F.A.Q.
This page will answer questions commonly asked by students and parents.
1. What time does school start and end?
The school day begins promptly at 7:50am. It ends at 3:15pm. Car rider dismissal begins at 2:30pm. It is recommended that if your child is going to eat breakfast at school, they should arrive no later than 7:40am to avoid being late to class. Breakfast is no longer served after 7:40 a.m.
2. How should I send money to school for my child?
When you send money to school, please always send exact change and a note stating the purpose along with your child’s name. You must send exact change in cash. No change can be given.
3. What do I need to send if my child is absent or needs to be checked out early?
Be sure to send a note (not written on the agenda pages) to school if your child is absent, checks in, or checks out. All absences will be considered unexcused if a note is not presented to the teacher. Please include the following information on your notes:
Student’s Name
Teacher’s Name
Grade
Date(s) Absent
***There is an Attendance Notes page protector in your child's binder. There are five Attendance Notes that you are welcome to use to turn in for his/her absence unless you have a doctor's note to turn in.***
4. What are some treats or snacks that my child can bring?
The Tipton County Schools have adopted a healthy food program. Outside food is not allowed due to the many allergies in our building/classrooms. Therefore, birthdays can not be celebrated with cake or cupcakes. Please see your child's classroom Policies and Procedures that were sent home in August. If you ever send treats or snacks for the class, please DO NOT send any with nuts/peanut butter (individually wrapped).
When celebrating birthdays, we encourage you to bring a non-food item or purchase ice cream from the cafeteria due to the increase in food allergies. Balloons and flowers may be sent to your child but may not be brought on the bus. Please make alternative arrangements for transportation.
5. When can I come have lunch with my student?
Parents are always welcome to have lunch with their child. Parents may begin visiting for lunch after Labor Day. Please sit at the designated Visitor Lunch table.

7. When do graded papers go home and what is the grading policy?
Papers will go home daily after we have graded and reviewed them in class. The papers will be located in your child’s binder and are yours to keep. Please use these papers to work with your child at home. We feel that sending papers home daily vs. weekly allows students ample time for review before testing. If you are not receiving graded papers in the binder, please discuss this with your child. You can keep updated on your child’s progress by signing up to the online gradebook. Contact the front office to receive information necessary to do so.
Tests will be sent home as the unit is assessed. You will receive a reminder text when graded tests are sent home.
